I am sad to say that I finished the entire series and am now in withdrawal. I want another Cherringham to read and I want it now! LOLI enjoyed the entire series, love "spending time" with the two main characters, Jack and Sarah. I so enjoyed observing their friendship develop and am looking forward to more of this great series. I'd like to see where the friendship develops into a romance. It is so obvious that these two have feelings for each other but are not ready to go there yet. If you like cozies, you'll love this - a little Agatha and a little Miss Marple, fun to read.I love the village of Cherringham, and the surrounding areas. The Cotswold's is on my bucket list for places to visit. It sounds like such a nice place, except, of course, for the murders that occur there. (LOL)
This wonderful series, from the first compilation to this latest compilation of books 22-24, have delightfully entertained me for the entire summer! I love the way the mystery develops in each book, the plots and twists. The very interesting and sometimes complex characters who make up each individual story are carefully woven into the story of the central characters, Jack, the American retired cop, and Sarah, the smart and savvy Brit who runs her own ad company. The people who surround their individual lives in the glorious and ancient Cotswolds make for murder and mayhem mixed with fun and family and friends. I love this series!! Great reading enjoyment.
Fun and easy read. I enjoy reading about the lives and interaction of the two primary characters - a retired NYPD detective and an English businesswoman and mother. There escapades are fun to follow. The setting in England and English country characters adds interest and uniqueness to the read. I'm so glad for the Kindle dictionary when a typical English phrase dots the page.
Overall a 5 star series of books. The writing is tight, without repetition, the characters are interesting & I like them & the situations are unique & not all murders. I appreciate the fact that they don't kill off everyone in the village one by one, the cops aren't always being represented as stupid idiots, the folks solving the mysteries are everyday folks, one with a little experience & our investigators aren't suspected of every crime. It's a refreshing take.
I have enjoyed all of the episode that I have read.I think they are well written and clean. I am confused as to the finished end of the 24 book.It never said what happened to Jack's family when he arrived in the US. I expected to have him call back to Sarah. I look forward to reading number 25.
To be totally honest, I am hooked on this authors, Matthew Costello. I love to escape into their world. My only complain is that I have come to the end of this series of books..... :-(Thank you ever so much!Cheers!
Set in a small English village, this series is a wonderful read. All of the books have great characters and evolving main characters. While smilingly a simple "mystery," the stories hold your attention and leave you wanting more. They are even in audio, what a treat!! Can't wait for the next one!
After so many short stories, you would think they would all start to sound the same, but not this series. It still holds intrigue, suspense, and the characters are still revealing more of their personalities.
